Tip: Prep First, Then Cook!

This is something that I learned when cooking after finding myself panicked scrambling for things while the food was cooking and sometimes it turned into utter chaos!

I can’t stress this enough, but before you begin cooking or making any food, do your prep work first!  Do your slicing, dicing, mincing and grating ahead of time, not while you’ve already begun cooking something.  Even if you’re the best multi-tasker, you’ll be able to cook with ease having things ready.

Have all of your ingredients measured and placed conveniently nearby where you’ll be doing your work, so all you have to do is reach over and add your ingredients without going through the stress of trying to measure and add things while cooking, which can cause food to burn because you’ve taken your attention away from it.  I suggest visiting a store like Dollar Tree, where you can get ramekins for $1.00 and they’re perfect for adding your pre-measured ingredients to.

Also, have ready all of the utensils you’ll be using ready at your fingertips.   We keep our cooking utensils in old canisters without the lids and I’d find myself scrambling for a specific spatula, or trying to find the meat thermometer amidst all of the much larger utensils.

Make your cooking experience a pleasant one and have everything ready before you begin making anything.  You’ll be so glad you did!
